Biodeal Pharmaceuticals Limited has expanded its sterile injectable manufacturing capabilities through the acquisition of Biological E.’s manufacturing facility at Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. The acquisition marks an important step in Biodeal’s strategy to strengthen its pharmaceutical CDMO platform and expand its capabilities for regulated international markets.
A 14-Acre Manufacturing Facility with 135 Million Units of Capacity
The Paonta Sahib facility spans approximately 14 acres and has an annual manufacturing capacity of around 135 million units. The facility supports general injectables and carbapenems in vial formats, while providing scope for additional capabilities including pre-filled syringes (PFS) and lyophilised injectable products.
Expanding Capabilities for Regulated Markets
The acquisition strengthens Biodeal’s position in sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing, a segment requiring advanced aseptic processing, stringent quality systems and robust contamination-control practices. Biodeal is also pursuing PIC/S and European Union accreditation for the facility as part of its strategy to expand its presence in regulated markets.
Strengthening Biodeal’s CDMO Portfolio
The Paonta Sahib facility adds a specialized sterile injectable manufacturing platform to Biodeal’s broader CDMO capabilities, which span pharmaceutical formulations, nasal drug delivery, dry powder inhalers, tablets, capsules and nutraceutical products. The expanded platform can support pharmaceutical companies seeking reliable manufacturing partnerships across multiple dosage forms.
Investment in the Next Phase of Growth
The acquisition and planned investment represent a total outlay of more than ₹400 crore. This investment reflects Biodeal’s focus on building manufacturing infrastructure, strengthening regulatory capabilities and developing a scalable pharmaceutical CDMO platform from India.
